World Press Freedom Day

Since 1991, May 3 has been celebrated worldwide as World Press Freedom Day, started by UNESCO and the United Nations. It was first celebrated in 1994. This day honours journalists who lost their lives while reporting. It sets a reminder of the important role a free press plays in democracy and human rights. It's a day to cherish and protect press freedom globally.
