WHO Report on Safety from Drowning

Drowning is the 4th major cause of death among children. The World Health Organization (WHO) released a report on the prevention of drowning deaths. The report surveyed drowning accidents from 139 countries. Although the number of drowning accidents has come down, children in poorer countries drown because they cannot swim. The WHO says children should know about water safety rules and be taught to swim. People should also be trained in water rescue skills.
