A team of scientists from Japan and New Zealand studied the bones of a penguin that lived millions of years ago. The penguin was as small as a house cat. By studying the bones, the scientists can find out how modern penguins got their diving skills. Just like the penguins of today, these old penguins also had thick bones that helped them dive into the water to catch their food.
