The World Craft Council (WCC) has recognized Srinagar as the 4th Indian city to get the World Craft City tag. The WCC is part of the UNESCO Creative City Network (UCCN) for crafts and folk arts. Earlier, Jaipur, Malappuram, and Mysore were awarded the World Craft City tags. Srinagar is known for its Pashmina and Kani shawls, carpets, paper-mache, and walnut wood carvings.
