Perseid meteor showers are raining through the skies

The Perseid meteor shower has begun its brightest light shows of the year. The showers can be seenfrom July to September, although the best time to watch them is in August. As a comet called Swift-Tuttle crosses the Sun, it leaves behind a trail of dust. As the dust enters the Earth’s atmosphere, it burns up due to the heat and turns into a meteor shower. The shower is visible in the top half of the Earth.
