Know about pin trading, the ‘unofficial sport’ of the Olympics

The Olympic Games have their fun side too, with the unofficial sport of ‘pin trading’. During the Olympics, people greet each other by asking if they have any pins. In the first Olympics of 1896, cardboard pins were made for officials and coaches to show who they were. The pins were later made of shiny metals and became collectors’ items. Athletes and sports fans trade their pins with other pin collectors and return home with bags of metallic pins.
