Burning the Boogg at Switzerland’s Spring Festival

Switzerland celebrates the Sechselauten Spring Festival with the burning of a huge white snowman called Boogg man. The festival announces the end of winter and the arrival of the spring season. Boogg man is filled with firecrackers so he can explode when he is set on fire. People use Boogg man as a kind of weather report. If the snowman catches fire quickly, people will know how hot the summer months will be.
